United in mission: Code for a Cause 7 – Together for change
In June 2025, after a year and a half pause, we reunited for Code for a Cause 7, reaffirming our commitment to supporting local communities. This time, we brought together 30 engineers from our team who collaborated with three non-profit organizations to develop digital solutions aimed at improving lives.

Instead of launching an open call this year, we received proposals continuously throughout 2024. After reviewing all submissions, we selected the organizations whose challenges could be most effectively solved through technology. By February 2025, our partners had been chosen, and preparations had begun.
Here’s who we supported this year:
- Pruži Korak – an initiative that collects steps through a mobile app and turns them into donations supporting children battling cancer.
- Autonomni Festival Žena (AFŽ) – a festival that amplifies women’s voices through arts, education, and community events.
- Ruka Šapi – an organization helping stray and abandoned animals find safe and loving homes.
48 hours dedicated to community
From Friday, June 13, to Sunday, June 15, our teams worked around the clock – brainstorming, debugging, sharing laughs, and staying fueled by plenty of coffee and late-night snacks.
What kept everyone going was the same motivation that sparked Code for a Cause years ago: the organizations’ stories, their challenges, and the belief that technology can create meaningful change.
Despite the long hours, the energy never dropped. Our teams remained focused, collaborative, and united in a single goal: to build solutions that matter.

The final results
After 48 hours of teamwork and problem-solving, all three solutions were completed and delivered:
- Pruži Korak – Pruži Korak Biz mobile app – 100% done
- Autonomni Festival Žena – AFŽ website – 100% done
- Ruka Šapi – Ruka Šapi website – 100% done
Here’s what the Project Team Leaders and the associations said about this year’s hackathon:
″This year’s hackathon once again delivered everything I love about it – the humanitarian vibe and the great energy. Only this time, the fun reached a level that made previous hackathons feel like just a warm-up.” - Miloš Roknić, Team Lead of the AFŽ project
″The atmosphere at the hackathon was amazing and inspiring, and the team's energy kept pushing us to create something truly useful in a short amount of time.” - Nikola Perišić, Team Lead of the Ruka Šapi project
″Social responsibility, philanthropy, humanity – these are all just words, and they remain only words until people bring meaning to them. When we talk about any community, society, company, or organization, we must recognize that each is made up of people. From the very beginning of our collaboration with Vega IT, all the way until we completed the app that is part of the “Take a Step” project, everyone in our organization shared the same impression that we were working with people who share our values and our vision of how those values can contribute to a better society. Projects driven by mutual understanding, empathy, and trust are the ones that truly have the power to create change. We can’t wait to see all the good that “Pruži korak” will continue to bring, always remembering that our first tailwind came from the wonderful team at Vega IT.″ - Tamara Klarić, Pruži korak association
How it all began
Ten years ago, we hosted our first Code for a Cause hackathon, without knowing that, over seven editions, we would complete more than 60 projects and bring together over 300 developers.
What’s next?
Code for a Cause continues through new projects, long-term collaborations, and a shared desire to use our knowledge for good. Our mission remains simple and clear: We build the world you imagine, together.
