What was the last book you read?

A book is a great companion, especially in your spare time.

"Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn

From the right books, you can learn valuable lessons which will contribute both to your personal and professional development. The more you read, the more you understand the topic. In this way, you challenge your existing beliefs and become better at that particular aspect of work/life.

What Are the Benefits of Reading?

Reading has a significant number of long-term benefits. Here are some of them:

  • Reading improves our focus and concentration
  • Reading reduces stress
  • Reading stimulates critical thinking skills
  • Reading improves our memory
  • Reading makes us better in writing and communicating
  • Reading stimulates creativity
  • Reading exercises our brain

Besides the above-mentioned benefits, books also inspire us to be better at what we do. They encourage us to absorb new experiences and take actions in our everyday life.

What the Librarian Program at Vega IT Looks Like

Since the early years of Vega IT, our co-founders knew how important it is to invest resources in the team’s knowledge sharing sessions, personal and professional development training, attending various conferences, etc.

Another thing they were passionate about was starting a company’s Library which continued to expand over the years. Besides the extensive library, we are proud of our Librarian portal where colleagues can:

  • Suggest the new books
  • Get notified about new titles in the library
  • Get notified when the desired book is available for hire
  • Filter all titles according to genres
  • See the top list of the highest-rated books
  • See the top list of the most hired books
  • Recommend a book to colleagues

From this list, you can see that our colleagues can participate in each segment of our Librarian program. If you were our colleague, what book would you like to see on our shelves?

So, Should Each Company Have Its Own Library?

Definitely! Besides empowering colleagues’ development through workshops and lectures, your company’s library provides an accessible resource for every member of your team.

No matter what your role in the company is, you can always discover something new and explore different areas outside your field of expertise.

Start building your own company’s library and encourage your colleagues to equally participate in its expansion. And, remember: when you open a book, you open a new world! ;)
