OPSI Systems is a software company focused on developing solutions for the logistics and transportation industry.

Their platform, Tramm, is a cloud-based transportation management system (TMS) designed to support complex logistics operations across planning, execution, optimisation, and monitoring.

The platform helps logistics companies manage transport operations across owned fleets and external carriers while improving operational visibility, reducing manual work, and enabling more efficient day-to-day execution.

As the platform continued to evolve, OPSI Systems needed support in developing new operational capabilities, improving mobile execution workflows, and expanding planning functionality for increasingly complex logistics and fuel distribution scenarios.

Transport and fuel distribution operations involve a large number of moving parts that must work together reliably in real time.

Planners need to coordinate deliveries across multiple locations, manage vehicle and compartment constraints, optimise routes, and handle partially completed deliveries without losing visibility or operational control.

At the same time, drivers in the field need reliable mobile tools that support execution in real-world conditions, including unstable connectivity, hardware limitations, and constantly changing operational requirements.

Many of these workflows are traditionally managed through fragmented systems, manual coordination, or operational workarounds that increase the risk of human error, reduce visibility, and slow down execution.

OPSI Systems needed a development partner that could support both the technical complexity of the platform and the operational realities behind it.

Our team worked closely with OPSI Systems on the continued development of Tramm, contributing to multiple parts of the platform focused on transport planning, fuel distribution, operational visibility, and mobile execution.

The collaboration included the development of new features, architectural improvements, mobile modernisation efforts, and enhancements designed to support more efficient and reliable logistics operations.

    Improving crossdock planning and routing

One of the areas of focus was the development of Crossdock Manager functionality designed to automate and simplify multi-leg transport planning.

The feature enables the system to automatically determine the optimal sequence of crossdock locations based on predefined regional hierarchies and master data configuration.

Instead of relying on manual planning, the platform evaluates destination regions, identifies associated crossdock locations across multiple hierarchy levels, and creates transport segments dynamically.

This approach reduced manual planning effort, improved consistency in routing decisions, and supported more efficient management of complex logistics operations involving multiple transfer points.

    Supporting fuel distribution workflows

The team also worked on functionality supporting fuel distribution operations, where planning accuracy and product segregation are critical.

This included the development of the Left on Board (LOB) feature, which manages fuel quantities remaining in vehicles after partial deliveries.

The feature allows operators to track remaining quantities, assign them to future deliveries, or return them to stock while maintaining full operational visibility and traceability.

To support more precise load management, the team also contributed to Compartment Planning functionality.

Vehicles and trailers can contain multiple compartments with different allocation rules, including bulk compartments that only allow a single product type and mixed compartments designed for more flexible transport scenarios.

The platform validates compartment allocations during planning, helping operators avoid invalid or unsafe load combinations.

These capabilities were further integrated into the Fuel Manager application, enabling planners to combine existing fuel quantities with newly loaded fuel during trip creation while maintaining visibility into compartment usage and product distribution.

Together, these features improved fuel utilisation, reduced unnecessary returns to depots, increased planning accuracy, and gave operators greater control over complex fuel distribution workflows.

Building a reliable mobile execution layer

Another major part of the collaboration focused on the Tramm Mobile App, which serves as the execution layer of the platform.

The application was designed to digitise driver workflows and replace manual or inconsistent execution processes with structured, guided mobile experiences.

Drivers can complete operational and compliance-related tasks directly through the application while the platform captures operational data in real time.

The app supports conditional workflows that dynamically adapt based on driver input, helping standardise execution across different operational scenarios.

    Additional functionality included:

    • Driver, vehicle, and equipment validation
    • Barcode scanning and item-level tracking
    • GPS vehicle tracking as fallback for onboard telemetry device
    • Offline-first operation with secure local data storage
    • Integration with Tramm’s core backend services

The project also included significant architectural and technical improvements.

Our team supported the migration from Xamarin.Forms to .NET MAUI, contributed to stabilising and modernising the mobile codebase, and helped improve scalability for future platform development.

One of the more technically demanding parts of the project involved integrating HERE Maps into the mobile application despite the lack of official Xamarin and MAUI support.

To solve this, the team developed a custom binding solution and implemented native iOS bridging layers that enabled the integration to function reliably across platforms.

The mobile application was additionally enhanced through improved CI/CD workflows, security improvements following penetration testing, and automation supporting more reliable iOS build processes.

Through ongoing collaboration with OPSI Systems, our team helped strengthen Tramm’s ability to support complex transport and fuel distribution operations across both planning and execution.

    The delivered functionality contributed to:

    • Reduced manual planning effort across logistics workflows
    • Improved operational visibility and execution consistency
    • Better fuel utilisation and inventory traceability
    • More accurate compartment-aware transport planning
    • Increased reliability of mobile execution and tracking
    • Stronger scalability and maintainability of the mobile platform
    • Improved support for real-world operational constraints, including offline execution and telemetry fallback

Advanced mobile functionality and operational capabilities also helped strengthen the platform’s market positioning, with features such as HERE Maps integration contributing to client onboarding discussions and positive customer feedback.
