Recently, a client approached Vega IT to help them increase the scope of services they provide. They wanted to create a custom and complex application that will run on all mobile devices.

The client wanted to add unique features to the application so that they would create a new market for the products and services they provide.

The Client:

Paperchase is a leading stationery shop in the UK with more than 50 years in the industry. Besides the website, their unique offer is available in more than 130 Paperchase stores in the UK, with over 30 sites across Ireland, Netherlands, Denmark, France, Germany and the Middle East.

The client wanted to create a more advanced mobile application than regular web applications in order to increase customer satisfaction and answer their needs for customising their stationery material.

Paperchase provided us with a clean design and detailed specifications for the mobile application.

To create a mobile application that will match the client’s specific needs we used nopCommerce, a powerful open-source eCommerce platform, as a starting point for the webshop. We used our knowledge of the domain and created a custom web API that enabled the webshop to work on mobile devices.

We developed the application in React Native since it’s independent and works on both iOS and Android.

At the initial stage of the project, our goal was to enable users to personalise different segments of their notebooks and greeting card using their mobile devices. The personalisation included text, covers, types of paper, etc. while making sure that design is pixel perfect on all screen sizes.

One of the requirements was to add a specific functionality to the users’ shopping cart. Our developers successfully implemented a custom feature where users can send each item from the shopping cart to different addresses defined by the user.

The mobile application was developed using React Native, while back-end side was developed using and adapting nopCommerce which is based on .NET core programming language.

For payment processing, we used Stripe payment platform.

The mobile applications are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The team:

The team consisted of 4 Software Developers, 1 Project Manager, and 1 QA Engineer.

The Result:

The client sent the new mobile application to a segmented audience and opened a new digital market for their business. They increased their sales with the new application and further established themselves as industry leaders and innovators.

The application is available on the Play Store and App Store.
